This single training course in Europe proceeded in a  serene  and full of good mood way of mind, characterized by the opening, the sharing, the concerts, the master-classes debates, the joint discussions.

The professors, Libero Lanzilotta, Wolfgang Guttler, Bernard Salles, Philippe Junker and Thierry Barbé for the training course A, Jean Ané, Jean Pierre Massat, Gerard Massat, Cédrick Alexandre and Jean-Michel Héquet for the training course B, Heine Van de Ghem and Eddie Gomez for the jazz, belong in this state of mind

The message is more than clear: To make progress more quickly our instrument, it is necessary to accept  that nobody hold the truth. It does not exist. Nobody is  the best. There is on the contrary  many manners of playing, of imagining, of listening, and it is enriching to know more as much as possible. What one knows already, one cannot forget it, it is thus not " dangerous " to learn  new technical reflexes to be able to still play in other manners.

This training course thus did not represent only one school, but several, or rather  syntheses of schools (in regard of the rather young generation of the teachers), and that thus already will involve syntheses of syntheses.

Hans Roelofsen, Tortelier of the double bass,   (db solo of Concertgebow   of Amsterdam) shines by his originality, his original tacts very interesting and his great musical requirement.

Guiseppe Ettorre (double bass solo of the scala of milano) is an admirable double bass player .

Just like in 1999, the training course it is unrolled with   wonder, with more intensity of exchanges . Students German, Brazilian, English, Italian, French, Belgian, Portuguese, Dutch, which effervescence!.  

A special mention for Thomas Martin , astonishing personality joining together an excellent musician double bass player impassioned by Bottesini at the point  to have devoted most of his life in search in all   the libraries of Europe,  and a famous maker of double bass .

 11th festival of Capbreton, august 2001 with   international classic competition!

15 bassist where present from spain, germany, US, Roumania, Bulgaria, Venezuella, Corea, suise, Holland, Mexique, Egypte.
At least, Arvid Christoph DORN (germany) won the first price ex-aequo with Petru IUGA (Roumania). Nabil Shehata (Egypte) took the 3rd price.
The level was high and interesting. The next concourse in 3 years.
